Sports & Family Day

Youth for Christ hosted its first bi-annual 5k and Sports and Family Fun Day in October 2013. These events worked in conjunction with the social arm, Heartline Community Outreach. Young people and their friends from all parts of the twin island state came together to have a great time of fun, games and fellowship. One of the best ways to reach a youth is to speak their language and a universal language is athletics and sports and this initiative was well supported by many young persons. The Sports and Family Fun Day began with a beautiful march past presentation done by each region. Many persons competed in track and field event and there was also the well enjoyed fun and novelty races. The day’s proceedings was climaxed by a rally featuring several local gospel artistes and all attendees had a wonderful time.

The 5K proved to be quite a great time of fellowshipping and achievement. It was quite noticeable that it attracted persons of all ages. Some persons testified about the atmosphere of comradeship that they experienced. One young woman also stated that many youths have the impression that church is boring and that Christians do not have fun. The Sports day was an example that Christians do have fun and many youths can look forward to the next Sports Day and 5k in 2015.
